My friend with no mechanical knowledge just bought a $700 Beetle with 560,000 miles that has been sitting for twelve years. We'll see how that goes.

Old or new beetle? That's a hell of a lot of miles.

I once saw a 2006 Crown Victoria for sale. It had been a cop car, then it was a taxi. 591,000 kilometers. That's 367,200 miles! Or 231 kilometers PER DAY, since it was bought new. Insane.

should be a fun project. He may fall in love with it if he manages to fix it.

13,000 miles per year or 40 miles per day since new. Damn. That sounds like a really fun project.

Well at least THIS won't be bothering him.

That book sounds like it was made for him. I'll keep an eye peeled for one; there's a bookstore here that has a shelf of old auto repair manuals.
